It’s true, I’ve never been to Texas. I ain’t seen Austin, or that Alamo town
But I spent my summers in the Carolines, on the banks of the Albemarle Sound

I was born in Northern California - I grew up in the San Francisco Bay
Spent some time above the Humboldt line - gettin’ high and learning how to play
20 years of playing bars and nightclubs Any roadhouse I could sing for my pay
Then up to Seattle where the rain is king - I know Hank didn’t do it this way

So, Excuse me if I got it wrong
